China cleaned up most of its one child slogans to replace them with a list of “190 acceptable slogans”. One of the slogans to be removed says: “one more baby means one more tomb.” They think that slogans like this one are harming the image of the policy in place for more than 25 years now and strictly followed all over the country. They said it’s an effort to win more understanding to the country’s population control policy.
This makes me think, up to what level are we in examining and evaluating our selves? I mean china has the largest population in the world and they say this policy helped limit its growth rate. There are, of course, objections to this policy but why should they bother thinking about refining the image of the policy.
Another important point is to what extent they know their people to change those slogans with a slogan like: “mother earth is too tired to sustain more children”.
Let me describe this move by the Chinese government as respectful.
This makes me ask some questions about current policies issued by some or our current governments or systems:
- Did they study the sector on which the policy is to be imposed? Do they really know the implications and dimensions of this policy on it?
- What studies have been made to reach the decision of this policy? And what’s the credibility of those studies?
- What sides do those studies cover and what sides they don’t?
- Does the study have the “reality sense” or is it only solid figures and charts?
- Do they have a test phase for the application of this policy?
- Do they care about the image of this policy and what reaction would it create in the target sector?
- Do they have an application “road-map”?
- Do they care to have a reverse channel of thought to examine the reaction and/or implication for each step of application?
- Does this policy have a time frame or is it just “till further notice”?
