The hard way

The Hard Way

This is the secret of professional success: do it the hard way.

In a quiz for personal evaluation they asked the following question: if you’re planning a war; and there is two ways to reach to the site. One is relatively short and goes direct to the place and the other one is long and goes round the whole area to reach it.

They said that those who take the long road and prefer to know the whole area before reaching the target have more chances to succeed than those who prefer to get down to business and finish as quick as possible with the least possible damage.

Just Perfect vs. the natural effect

just perfect

I was reading a blog by Paul Williams  a regular blogger on the Daily Fix  titled “Do You Flemish?“.

To “flemish” – as he described – is to coil the loose end of the lines (ropes) used when boating.

His advice was to observe the little details when performing business as those little things make a difference. And flemishing (or paying attention details) will reflect positively on the brand.

Diversity & integration: a citizenship test

Diversity & integration

I was reading an article in the BBC news website that Australia has unveiled details of a new citizenship test for immigrants.

Immigrants will be asked questions about history, institution and culture – as well as committing to Australian social values focusing on “mateship”.

The immigration minister said: “The aim of the test was to get that balance between diversity and integration correct in the future”

You should be afraid

You should be afraid

Once upon the time, scientist decided to do a certain experiment on monkeys. They put four monkeys in a cage with a ladder and a bunch of bananas above them. All the monkeys had to do to reach the bananas was to climb on the ladder and there they were. And what business could the monkeys do better than climbing.

Customer behavioral types

Customer Behavioral Matrix

This is a study from old times. I always use this as a reference and it’s still meaningful till now. I will post it here since I’m a fan of going back to basics and building on it.

“Source: Buzzotta et al. (1982)”

Studies to understand customer behavior suggest that everyone tends to be warm or hostile, and dominant or submissive.

Judge me not

Judge me not

It’s very much amazing that we find it very easy to believe what we like or want and how capable are we in criticizing and refusing what we don’t want to believe.

I was reading a blog post on wordpress by DoveLove about closed minded skepticism. It made me think how we all fall in the trap of believing and adopting certain things only because we find them lovely, interesting or in-line with what we already do or know. And sometimes we harshly deny something only because it opposes or contradicts with our system of beliefs.

Can you give me a discount?

Can you give me a discount

The other day, I went to a shop to buy a new tie. This is a very fancy shop and it’s well known with the finest ties ever. It was this period of the year when everything was on sale and the whole market was giving 30 to 60 percent discount. But this place was the only one with no sale at all.

One-Child slogan:

One child slogan

China cleaned up most of its one child slogans to replace them with a list of “190 acceptable slogans”. One of the slogans to be removed says: “one more baby means one more tomb.” They think that slogans like this one are harming the image of the policy in place for more than 25 years now and strictly followed all over the country. They said it’s an effort to win more understanding to the country’s population control policy.

The core of happiness:

The core of happiness

This is maybe the question of all questions. What if I go back again to the basics and try to answer this question? I mean don’t we all work, learn, hang out, fall in love, communicate and maybe everything we do in life just to reach happiness?

Raison D’etre:

Human

They say that happiness is the ultimate desire in the world. But speaking of this why do we call it happiness? If it’s the ultimate desire we might be able to call it “the rest of soul” or “the achievement of the self”.
